Believe it or not, I've been working for over 20 years and have had all sorts of jobs. On any job seeking site you see a little section on there about interview tips, or job seeking tips, or a resume building workshop.
I'm curious if the schools are teaching any of these things?
I had a small resume course in grade 8, 20 years ago, and I tweaked it here and there, but it worked for 20 years. I was taught when applying for a job, look your best when handing in a resume. I've noticed lately when going out for a coffee or picking up a friend how people hand in a resume, or how they show up for an interview. Hats on sideways, pants down to their ankles, sloppy shirts, baggy pants, low cut shirts....you get the point.
Being a past supervisor and working closely with the public for over 10 years, I have seen what employers are looking for from potential employees....a potential employee that's clean and neat.
Now this could be me, but I noticed girls seem to look more respectable than guys.
The past 3 young ladies I saw handing off a resume were dressed very nice, clean and respectful. The last 4 guys I saw....lets just say they had nice underwear.
Still it makes me wonder, how are the teens/young adults taught on how to hand out a resume? Who's responsibility is it? The parents? The teachers? Its a question employees and employers are all asking I'm sure.
