The Human Heart

I never really understood the power of the human heart until recently. If you are an adult, your heart is about the size of two fists, what's incredible is your heart beats about 100, 000 thousand times in one day which works out to 35 million times in a year, making it roughly beating 2.5 billion times in a life time. Not bad for a small body muscle that weighs less than a pound huh? We all know....the heart is our very existence...we need it to live, without it we can't.

The funny thing is.....yes we need it to live....but the main thing we need to live, we give it away...on many levels.

There are few types of hearts I've noticed over the years.

A caring heart: a heart that cares about the needs of others, even before themselves.

A loving heart: A heart that can reach out and make the unloved hearts feel loved, and makes other hearts feel like the most special heart in the world.

A compassionate heart: a heart that can feel for other hearts and reach out to other hearts who feel worn down or broken or lost.

All these hearts don't judge but lend a helping hand and a listening ear without judging or scolding, but take the time to understand other hearts.

Our heart is the most powerful thing, which is why we give it away to someone we love, and when we do that, we in then turn into giddy school girls, walk into walls, fall into pools, we can't think straight, we can't talk straight, we walk on air, the world is a wonderful place to live when our hearts belong to someone. It make us get up in the morning and have a reason to live.

However, its hard to understand why we as individuals break something that is so valuable. Why we can be so reckless with something that gives us life.

When our heart is broken, we often ask ourselves why? Why did some other heart break my heart. Why were other hearts so reckless with the one thing I gave to them that is my very being?

I know I have been reckless with some hearts, its something I'm not proud of and sometimes my heart has been the complete opposite of a loving/caring/compassionate heart , and yes my heart has been on the receiving end too....It's its received love, care and compassion and also heartache.

So why do humans continue to break hearts? Its a question I often asked myself, but never really had the answer too.....maybe I never will.....but I have realised something. That same heart that broke, can give us strength and courage to try and mend, to move on and become a better stronger heart....and to give other broken hearts a second chance to do the same. It doesn't come over night, it takes time, and sometimes even some space so both hearts can understand each other, but in the end those hearts are always stronger together.
