A friend and I went to Toronto last Monday. It made me think of my brother who 20 years ago had to go to Toronto to find the perfect stereo system which had a duel cassette, turn table, equalizer, receiver and had honking huge knobby things! LOL. They all came in separate components. Back then, he paid $2000 and it was his pride and joy. My first stereo was a Citizen made stereo with dual cassette and turntable and radio...I think I paid $300 for that back in 1992. I bought it with my paper route tips.
I remember looking in the Sears Wishbook and drooling over the Sony Walkmans that started at $99.99, 20 years ago. Remember those with the cute ear phones? Or How bout the Boom Boxes in the 80's and early '90's. Only the elite had those. Now everywhere you look someone has an ear bud shoved into their ears. They are absolute necessities for some people!
4 years ago I buckled and bought a 512mb Sony Walkman, you needed software to transfer files....I paid $200 for that.. I recently had to buy a new one because I upgraded my computer and the old software wouldn't take. So I bought a Sharp mp3 player for $50 with 4gb. In Toronto you could buy systems for $400 and you could buy a speaker for your ipod for $200....that's our stereos today. So whats next? My guess? Our kids will be born with them implanted in them. LOL
We are the borg. You will be assimilated. Resistance is futile.
